Lupita's is within walking distance from my place, and being fond of Mexican food, I had to check it out. The restaurant offers a friendly, family-run style atmosphere. The staff was super friendly and helpful and genuinely cared to see that we had a good experience. We were brought chips and salsa right away. The salsa had a little kick and was yummy. My husband ordered the chimichanga with beef and green sauce, while I went with the adobada plate (similar to al pastor). My husband was a bit unsure of the chimichanga portion since it was only $3.50, but it was actually a good portion, not too big or small. The green sauce was more like a brown sauce with green chili or pepper which we've also had at Consuelo's. It must be a regional style of this sauce since neither one of us had ever had this sauce growing up in California. My plate came with large portions of Mexican rice, adobada, pico de gallo and a small scoop of guacamole. The adobada was tender and flavorful, but the rice was kind of bland. My husband's chimichanga was filled with ground beef which needed some seasoning, and he didn't really care for the green sauce. While the sauce wasn't horrible, it just didn't add anything to the dish. Lupita's is affordable and their service is outstanding. I'll come back to check out their breakfast menu sometime soon.

I really like the food here, it is what a Mexican place should be. Good size portions, delicious food and cheap prices. Nothing not to like about this place. Also they serve Horchata here and it's awesome =)

me and my girlfriend tried lupitas a few nights ago. At first the food was excellent, but things turned for the worst as we became incredibly sick for hours. It all started around 1:00 am when we were both woken up by the terrible pains in our stomachs. After a about 6 hours of what I believe was food poisoning we were finally able to rest. think twice before you eat here.

I love this place. I only wish they served booze. The ambiance is lacking but the food is killer. Someday I hope they move to a nice big place. There may be a lotta Mexican joints in town but this one stands out. Killer green chile, great carnitas. Salsa is awesome. Being value focused, some items may not be your favorite if you are looking for "fancy" Mexican food. I love that they serve stuffed sopapillas. But... I don't order it much due to calories. Deluxe smothered burrito instead. Long ago, my kids got the burger/fries and said they were among best in town. Srsly. Now they get burritos. We love Lupitas!!!

Food was bland!!! Was so excited for a new place in the area. It was a huge let down. Ordered a side of chicharones, they were awful, i could smell them coming from across the restaurant. They smelled and tasted of old fryer oil. Makes me question the cleanliness of the kitchen for sure. Surely won't be coming back.

This place is on the way to work so I stop in here at least once a week to order a smothered breakfast burrito. In my opinion the best breakfast burrito in town on the north end of Fort Collins. If you are brave order the extra hot green chili.

I would say this is one of the best places in town. They are quick and cheap. I mostly come here for to-go orders so I can't comment on the level of service when it comes to dining in. I would say that they're quick with helping you when you are picking up your to-go order. They have great chips and salsa, green chili, and horchata!!

I made it a challenge to go through every item on their menu. I can say this for sure, that pretty much everything on their has all one thing in common. Their sauce that they use, they use it on everything. Mostly all the items there are probably just fashioned and looks different, but in reality, it all tastes the same. Service, not so good. I've called in several times to only be placed on hold, and only to have been forgotten and had to hang up and call back. Three times I've actually left my place while on hold, drove there and walked in with the phone in my hand while on hold. Not happy at all. Their breakfast burrito's, again tastes exactly like everything else on the menu with their same tasting sauce that they use. Careful about eating the burrito on the go, because they do not know how to roll a burrito to keep it's contents inside the burrito. It falls all over the place, even though it's wrapped up in their foil. At one time, it used to be a really nice place, but now, it's for sure getting run down. They charge for the chips and salsa, which they don't tell you if you ask for them. I used to enjoy eating there, but have noticed a severe decline in service, functionality, cleanliness and professionalism. The beans, horrible. Very bland tasting, and more then many occasions, I've received the beans and they were not even fully cooked. The rice, several times it was dried, old and crunchy. I'm Hispanic, and sadly, I can see and taste how "Fake" they have become, just to pass off to others of being authentic. They have a couple of great employees, but there are a few of them that really are giving this place a bad feeling/vibe. So feel free to try it, but after about your third time visiting, you'll see that the food all tastes the same, just they fashion it differently. They close at 8pm. Another issue, they should stay open till at least 10 pm as a Mexican restaurant, and also because of this, they have lost my business. Their kitchen, from what you can see through the small opening, does not look very clean, and if you just happen to drive by in the back side, it even looks worse. I'll never go back there again.

Never had a problem at Lupita's. I have tried many of the items on the menu. I have regularly had the breakfast burrito. For lunch, I have had the enchilladas, hard shell tacos, guacamole, and often drink a horchatta, which I highly recommend. I always ask for the hottest sauce and never been disappointed. Service has always been quick and friendly. I eat there 2 to 3 times a month.

The food here is great. Hot green chlie actually has some kick to it. The menu has a good slection of food. I have always had good service although it does get busy at lunch time. Breakfast burritos are also good, easy to grab on the run. Only complaint is that chips and salsa are not free, the reason for only 4 stars. If you do order them there are no refills. Definitely would recommend this restaurant.

Great cheap Mexican food, but terrible service! Definitely get your food to go. If you decide to dine in, make sure you walk in and just take a seat at an empty table. The staff has no signs or hosts to seat you, the window is for take out orders only.

Well it took me a long time after our last visit here to come back and give it one more try hoping it was a fluke how sick I was after last time I ate here. It was worth the wait as they delivered nicely serving a great meal that my wife and I both really enjoyed. Very busy in here on this night and still managed to give us great service. Forgotten how much I liked this place's food and we will definitely be back again soon when we are in Fort Collins. Saw they have expanded now to Greeley which is great, wish they would open up down in Loveland also.

They now sell cheap breakfast burritos at the gas station not too far from me. Was in a hurry one morning and picked up two of them to try out. They were cheap, hot (temperature) and to my surprise, had some chunks of green chiles which were very tasty and had a little kick. Based on their gas station burritos, they get 3 stars. I will have to make it to the actual restaurant to see how that food is.

The beef was gross, cheese lower quality and sauce mediocre. Many better places to go to in Fort Collins!

Lupitas is OK not the best not the worst. More of a 2.5 stars but definitely not a 2. Their food is pretty mediocre but edible. I had an enchilada sampler type thing with a Beef, chicken and cheese. It really says something about a place when the cheese enchiladas are the best out of the bunch.... Their beef and chicken don't have much flavor so its all pretty bland. The chicken one was also a mix of white and dark meat which bothers me. I am not really a fan of dark meat in enchiladas. I also had their green chile which was decent but not much different than any other Mexican restaurants offerings. I would go back if I was invited but probably not by choice as there are way better places to eat in Fort Collins. Their location is also very small and out of the way if you are just visiting Fort Collins.

Ordered breakfast burrito with side of pico. Got charged a buck for the pico. Overpriced breakfast. Have tried to like this place. Always leave disappointed

Fast service. Family owned. Great prices. Best green chili in town. Big portions. Recommend the carnitas platter.

Great place! Ordered a steak chimmy. They brought out a chicken chimmy and I didn't even notice. Halfway through it they brought out the steak chimmy. Said they were sorry and to have both. Only charged me for one. Flavor of both of them were outstanding! Great service super nice people. I'd highly recommend!

Lupita's was a wonderful surprise find for us tucked away in a tiny shopping area just west of City Park. They have an extensive menu, great service and really good food. The prices can't be beat. The dining area is a little small and when you enter the restaurant you are in the middle of the seating area - so that's a little confusing on your first visit. But overall this is easily one of our favorite Mexican restaurants in Fort Collins. We love to carryout.

I checked out Lupita's because the reviews were pretty good here on Yelp. I was pretty disappointed. Living in SoCal, I'm pretty spoiled I guess with lots of good choices for authentic Mexican food. Lupita's would not even make my list of top 10 places to be honest. the food was ok, but not great. The rice was not good at all. I got the carnitas because several had raved about them in the reviews. The green sauce was pretty salty. Pretty much everyone in our party (about 8 of us) agreed that the food was substandard compared to authentic Mexican food we eat all the time back in Southern California. Maybe this is the best Fort Collins has to offer in the way of Mexican food. If so, that's too bad. Honestly, I would say go to on of the chains (El Torito, On the Border, or Chevy's) before going here.

The first time I went the food was good, however my wife and I went back expecting the food to be as good, however it was bland the beef had no flavoring and the green chili had almost no flavor.

Went for dinner on a Tuesday...needed a beer, they don't serve liquor. You can't go to a Mexican restaurant and not have beer or margs. Salsa for chips was NOT good....I got flautas and they were good. Husband got street tacos and didn't like them.

When we lived in Vegas, we were surrounded by a plethora of Mexican food options - taco trucks, fast-casual chains, sloppy mom and pop shops, and gourmet cuisine. Not only were we surrounded by a variety of different Mexican food restaurants, but we ate at almost all of them from time to time. This is where I gained my appreciation and practice for eating good Mexican food. I haven't found too many places in Fort Collins that are similar to what we ate in Vegas, but Lupita's totally reminds me of those hellishly hot years, eating spicy carnitas in the summer sun. Lupita's is one of the newest additions to the Mexican food scene here in Fort Collins, opening in November of 2010. Having more of a New Mexican-style than traditional Mexican, they replaced Revolution Doughnuts on Mulberry by City Park. When I discovered that we were getting yet another Mexican restaurant and lost a doughnut shop, I don't think my foodie heart could have been heavier. However, Lupita's picked up my spirits once I tasted their fare. It's tough to find quality Mexican food in Fort Collins, the type that is fast, fresh, and flavorful. Sometimes we reminisce about our years in Vegas, eating from the incredible authentic places that spanned the city, but Lupita's is filling that void for us now. It brings back fond memories, and while it isn't blowing my mind, it's still what I would consider one of the better choices for Mexican food in Fort Collins.

This particular Lupita's is not to be confused with the Lupita's Tamales that used to be on Laurel. This is different management all together. I first got acquainted with the folks here because a few of them worked at the Colorado based Santiagos. This Santiagos where I got to know them was located in Berthoud, CO. Recently I learned that that particular Santiagos location has closed. With a stroke of luck I came across one of the people that worked at that Santiagos and was told that much of the same staff was going to open a place near City Park called Lupita's. I am so glad I ran into her! When I got a chance I drove on out there and was so glad I did! The menu is set up similar to Santiagos but I think the green chile is much better. I was salivating furiously almost as soon as I walked in when I smelled the chile smell in the air. It did not disappoint to say the least! I ordered a bean and cheese burrito with medium leveled spiced green chile which was most excellent but I also sampled the hot version as well and that was most yummy as well and something I realized I could handle. The people that worked there were very happy to see me come in and were ready to impress me and they did! A lady that I work with is from Berthoud and I gave her the address to here. She was very unhappy to see them leave town but happy that Lupita's opened as was eager to try it! I can't wait to have it again myself! Yummy!

Lupita, my darling, I dub thee patron saint of breakfast burritos !! After my fantastic lunch experience a while back, I knew I needed to, HAD to, try the breakfast burritos. Once again, the green chili impressed. The bacon was a chunky, crispy hunk of hog. The eggs as light as a cloud. What a heavenly way to start the day.

Lupita's is tucked away near City Park (in the same shopping center as Little Caesar's). I rarely visit this side of town, but the lure of a new Mexican restaurant was enough to make the trip. The restaurant is small and it wasn't clear walking in for the first time if we should order at the counter or if there was waiter service - a "Please Wait to be Seated" sign would go a long way to reduce the confusion. There are no freebies here - if you want chips and salsa as an appetizer it'll cost you - but you'll understand why when you see the prices and portion sizes. There's a $2 breakfast burrito that is enormous, and most smothered burritos are enough for a good meal at $4-6. I ordered two burritos and a drink and was so full I had to roll out of there - and the bill was only $10! The waitress said the rellenos are the most popular dish, and several in my party found them delightful. I had the carnitas burrito and the pork was fantastic - tender and tasty. With family in New Mexico, I have high standards for green chile and Lupita's hit a home run there too. I love it spicy and the hot green chile was giving me a run for my money. They also have extra-hot if you're a bolder man than I. The entire menu is available all day, which is awesome if you like breakfast burritos any time of day. Overall I was very impressed. I wish they were more centrally-located. One downside I noticed was that the restaurant can get pretty loud when it's full.

We are always on the look out for that great little place with wonderful food. We were excited to try this place, after three reviews and 5 stars. We were on a mission to find Carnitas. Lupitas did not disappoint. We each had the deluxe, smothered carnitas chimichanga. I had the mild green chili. Now, I am very meek when it comes to spicy food. I like to taste my food, not be in pain. So...I went for the mild. It was actually a bit too mild, so next time I will try the medium. My boyfriend had the hot. Now, he is the type who loves really hot, mouth on fire sort of spicy. For him the hot was flavorful, but not too hot. Didn't even break a sweat. We shared a smothered chili relleno. That was really good! The staff was incredibly nice, we could not have asked for better service. You can order at the register to go, or seat yourself. With drinks, and even a smothered burrito to go, our bill was $19. we can't wait to go back!

Really good Carnitas Indian Taco and green chile. The dining room is small and no frills yet very clean and nice. Our server was attentive and our food was brought out quickly and hot. Portions are generous and the price is reasonable. We definitely will go again! They serve Pepsi products and have WIFI.

A very nice little Mexican restaurant! This is basically my go-to place for cheap, delicious breakfast burritos, which they serve all day. Thus far, it's the only thing I've had, so maybe I should expand my taste. But anytime I miss breakfast or am just in the mood for some spicy egg and potato piping hot in a tortilla, this is the place to go. In a town where quality Mexican food is hard to come by, this place at least knows how to start the day.

After seeing good reviews for Lupita's, my friend and I decided to grab some breakfast before heading out for the day. We both ordered the Huevos Rancheros. I couldn't have been more disappointed. If I had to guess, I'd say everything came from some package ripped from the back of a Sysco truck. In fact, I had only a few bikes. It was inedible. Although the prices are reasonable, I'll not be returning to Lupita's.

I don't know if other reviewers have caught this place on a much better day than I have, but in my opinion this place was average at best. I went twice in a week just to make sure, but the green chili in the breakfast burritos was bland, and in general they were WAY too salty. I'm not saying they were terrible, but I'll be going the extra mile to Consuelo's Express from now on.

Wow, Really Good Food, Nice People, Great Prices! Hey, we've been into Mexican food forever, and these people know what they are doing. Try the carnitas, best that I can recall. The hot green chile is next to perfect. No liquor, so sometimes we have a marg at the Rio then hit Lupitas for great food.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
